Description

Until somewhat recently, the seek bar always appeared for a couple of seconds whenever I skipped forward or backward while playing a video. In the most recent versions of xbmc4xbox, it no longer does this, which makes it impossible to see how far I'm seeking within the video. It's as if the Player.DisplayAfterSeek boolean condition no longer works.

I don't think this is a skin issue because the same problem exists in both PM3.HD and Confluence Light. I don't think it's a dialog problem because the seek bar does appear at other times, like when I pause a video or fast forward using an xbox controller's analog trigger.

Debug log attached. This is from a session in which I started playing a file and jumped forward a few times, but the seek bar did not occur.

Since then, I noticed that the seek bar appears if I play a video encoded with the Sorenson Spark codec (flv container), but does not appear if I play an xvid-encoded video (mkv container) or avc-encoded video (mp4 container).

It seems xbmc is using MPlayer to play most of my videos, but DVDPlayer for Sorenson Spark / flv videos, which might explain why this problem shows up with the former but not the latter.

If I enter the Play Using menu and choose DVDPlayer to play one of the problem videos, the seek bar once again appears after seeking. So, I guess it's only broken when using MPlayer?

probably by design then. mplayer is no longer supported/developed. I would recommend using dvdplayer as the default player for all videos.

I don't see how it could be by design considering that it worked before and still works when paused.

I would just use DVDPlayer instead, except that DVDPlayer has awful seeking performance on the xbox.

seeking performance is fine here. in fact it was considerably improved in recent versions.

whether by design or not, there is no more development being done with mplayer, and it's possible some incompatibility with another change has happened. as it only affects mplayer which is no longer worked on, I doubt it will be fixed. if you could tell me at which version it stopped working, you might get more chance of a fix being looked into, but I don't see this as any sort of priority. sorry.

I just tested: It works in versions 3.0.1, 3.2, and 3.2.1. It is broken in 3.3, 3.3.2, and 3.3.3.

Well, im assuming gui changes for dvdplayer have affected it. There are far too many commits to go through though for an issue such as this that affects an unsupported part of xbmc4xbox - If someone provides a patch that sorts it ill apply it but I have no interest in looking into this sorry. marking as wontfix.
