Description

I started a thread in the forum about this that seems to have died.

The first problem has been identified. I did a test build of Babylon with the one-line fix (it had the same problem) and it seems to work there (have not tested most current rev).

I posted two examples of a second problem. Pastebin links are:
http://xbmc4xbox.pastebin.com/rzT8C6Q0
http://xbmc4xbox.pastebin.com/E8GGfWC7
Referring to "Cop Out" example:

"Seach for subtitles in RARs" - ON
2.0.1 works
8.10 works
9.04.1 works
r30452 fails (does not require reboot)

"Search for subtitles in RARs" - OFF
(then manually browse to .sub in .rar during playback)
2.0.1 works
8.10 fails (and requires reboot)
9.04.1 fails (and requires reboot)
r30452 fails (and requires reboot)

All of the fail cases I have examined have a similar event; an accvio in CMPlayer::OpenFile at which point system gets sick.

Addendum:
The problem does not seem to be mplayer.dll per se. For example, if I use mplayer.dll r17397 (the most recent in svn) with xbmc 2.0.1, everything still works fine.

And if you use DVDPlayer?

Did a search through the 2.0.1 to Atlantis t3ch builds.
In all cases I used the latest mplayer.dll (r17397)

The 'browse for subtitles' breakage seems to occur between
XBMC-SVN_2008-07-28_rev14439-T3CH.rar works
XBMC-SVN_2008-08-12_rev14853-T3CH-ALPHA3.rar broke

I continued my search through t3ch builds.

The 'auto-search for subs in rars' breakage seems to occur between
XBMC-SVN_2009-01-25_rev17349-T3CH.rar works
XBMC-SVN_2009-02-18_rev17820-T3CH.rar broke

The astute among you will note that these predate 9.04.1-fixed,
(but after 8.10) which I said worked in the original post. Huh?

Further investigation revealed a necessary pre-condition in order
to trigger this failure. Debug logging must be ON. Note: Full
logging is not required; advancedsettings loglevel 1 is sufficient.
(Debug on/off does not affect the manual browsing breakage case.)

The 'browse for subtitles' breakage occurred
at r14779 in xbmc/cores/mplayer/mplayer.cpp
while attempting to fix a 'stop' problem
introduced by linuxport merge at r14733.

It's not very likely that r14779 is the cause of the problem. I tried to reproduce it here with both MPlayer & DVDPlayer by using an avi/divx file + rarred-sub (subrip/srt format) and I can't trigger the issue...
