Bug #49
openDVDPlayer does not display .idx/.sub (Vobsub) subtitles correctly.
0%
Description
when playing a movie with vobsub subtitles (.idx/.sub), using DVDPlayer, they are not displayed correctly. they are not centered on the screen and the colors are wrong. instead the subtitles are off-center to the right and sometimes off the bottom of the screen.
although MPlayer does display them correctly.

I believe there is a colour fix in svn now. In terms of size and position, I have read on xbmc.org that they do not want to do post processing on vobsubs, so they are displayed in the positions and size given. In many cases I believe the blame sites with subs themselves. Could you check out the linux or windows version of xbmc behaves with the same files

i can't run xbmc on this windows pc unfortunately, so i can't test. but i did try the build on xbox with the color fix, but i think that only applies to playing DVD's using the DVDPlayer and not actual movie vobsubs. the vobsub support is still the same on build 30451.

I have some files with vobsubs and the colours are showing correct for me. XBMC doesn't work on your pc ? perhaps you can upload a small sample to ftp://aero.exotica.org.uk/incoming for me.

i uploaded a rar to that ftp. when i play a movie with those subs in mediaplayer on winxp, the subs are yellow, which is the correct color. when i play them in the DVDPlayer on xbmc4xbox, they are aqua/turquoise, and larger font/off-center. when i play in MPlayer, the font is light gray.
also, the positioning of some subtitles are wrong. the first line comes in at around 0:01:14. it should be positioned near the top of the screen, while the second line appears at the bottom. DVDPlayer displays this position correctly despite the other issues, while MPlayer shows every line on the bottom of the screen.

I doubt the mplayer bug will be fixed. This is the old player and work is concentrated on the dvdplayer. This also occurs on the linux version of xbmc, so my best suggestion would be to report it there, and then we can port across the fix (They have far more developers than us!).

Could you try it again. some code has changed recently in regards to subtitle colours. Also I seem to have misplaced your rar. oops. Please could you upload it ?

i think the subtitle color fixes were for playing DVD's either from disc drive or video.ifo, but i haven't tested that.

as of 30563, it's still does not display correctly. the latest download is 30572 which doesn't really have any changes to the dvdplayer, but when the next build is released i will test it out.

I think the merge is missed so the question is which rev. fixed this in mainline xbmc?
